The Process
01.
Reach Out
Every photographers style is unique. If you feel like my photography resonates with your vision for family portraits, I would be delighted to connect with you. Let's collaborate to bring your vision to life, discussing your preferences and any specific requirements you may have for the photoshoot. Please reach out so we can begin planning together.
02.
Book Session
Once we confirm the date and time of your session, I'll take care of the finer details. This includes scouting locations, organizing props or extra equipment, preparing shot lists, and coordinating with other professionals like makeup artists or stylists, if necessary.
03.
The Session
Arrive ready to relax and have fun! We’ll start by discussing any final details or ideas you’d like to include. If you’re unsure about poses or settings, don’t worry—I’ll guide you through everything.
The session will be light-hearted and enjoyable. Whether it’s playful moments with your kids, romantic shots as a couple, or candid family interactions, we’ll focus on capturing genuine emotions and connections.
I’ll provide gentle direction to help you feel confident and natural in front of the camera. It’s all about showcasing your unique personality and the bonds you share.
If little ones are involved, expect some breaks, laughs, and spontaneity—it’s all part of the process! We’ll follow their lead to capture authentic, heart-warming moments.
We’ll capture a mix of posed portraits and candid moments, ensuring you have a beautiful variety of images to treasure.
From adjusting lighting to capturing the perfect angle, I’ll focus on every detail to create stunning photos.
Once the session wraps up, I’ll share the next steps, like when you can expect to see your photos. You’ll leave the session knowing we’ve captured memories you’ll cherish forever.
04.
Gallery Delivery
After your session, I’ll get straight to work reviewing all the images we captured. This involves selecting the very best shots that showcase the emotions, moments, and connections we created. From there, I’ll begin the first stage of editing—adjusting lighting, colours, and composition to ensure each photo looks its absolute best while staying true to the essence of your session. This initial edit lays the foundation for a gallery filled with stunning, polished images that you’ll love and treasure forever.
If you’ve opted for sneak peeks, I’ll share a few highlights within a few days to give you a glimpse of what’s to come.
Once your proofs are ready, you’ll receive an email with a link to your private online gallery. This gallery is accessible from your computer, tablet, or phone, making it easy to relive your session wherever you are.
Inside the gallery, you can browse through your photos, make a gallery of your favorites, even share the link with friends and family to help with your gallery selections.
After your images are carefully selected, the final stage of editing begins. This is where each photo is polished to perfection—enhancing colors, adjusting details, and ensuring every image reflects the beauty and emotion of your session.
You’ll also have the option to order professional prints, albums, or other keepsakes directly from the gallery to ensure the highest quality.
If you have any questions about downloads, print orders, or anything else, I’m here to help. I want you to enjoy your photos for years to come!
FAQ
How many pictures will we receive?
The number of images included varies based on the photography package you choose. If needed, you can upgrade your package after your session and once you've seen your gallery.
What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?
The best time to have a newborn photography session is typically within the first two weeks after birth. Here’s why:
1. Sleepiness and Flexibility: Newborns are sleepier and more flexible during this early period, making it easier to pose them into those adorable curled-up positions that are so popular in newborn photography.
2. Less Discomfort: Babies are less likely to be bothered by colic or baby acne during this time, which can sometimes appear a bit later.
3. Capture Early Features: Newborns change quickly in the first few weeks, so capturing their tiny features and newborn characteristics early ensures you get those precious memories preserved forever.
4. Cooperation: Babies at this stage are usually more cooperative during the session, as they are often sleeping deeply or easily soothed when awake.
However, every baby is different, so flexibility is key. If your baby is premature or has health considerations, waiting until they are a bit older and stronger may be advised.
How should we dress for our family session?
Dressing for a family photography session involves choosing outfits that coordinate well together without being too matchy-matchy. Here are some tips to help you:
1. Co-ordinate Colours: Select a colour palette that complements each other rather than wearing identical outfits. For example, you might choose a combination of soft pastels, earth tones, or shades of a single colour (like blues or greens).
2. Avoid Loud Patterns: Large, bold patterns or logos can be distracting in photos. Opt for smaller patterns or solids that won’t overwhelm the photo.
3. Layer and Texture: Adding layers and textures can add depth and visual interest to the photos. Consider jackets, scarves, cardigans, or accessories that complement your outfits.
4. Consider the Setting: Think about where the photoshoot will take place. If it’s outdoors, consider the season and weather conditions. For indoor sessions, think about the background and how your outfits will contrast or blend with it.
5. Avoid Extreme Trends: While it’s good to look stylish, avoid outfits that are too trendy or may look dated in a few years. Classic, timeless styles tend to work best.
6. Comfort Matters: Make sure everyone is comfortable in what they’re wearing. Uncomfortable clothing can show in photos and affect how natural everyone looks.
6. Pay Attention to Shoes and Accessories: Shoes can often be overlooked but can make a big difference in the overall look. Choose footwear that complements your outfits and is suitable for the location.
7. Grooming: Don’t forget about hair and makeup. Ensure everyone’s hair is styled neatly, and makeup is done in a way that enhances natural features without being overdone.
8. Test Outfits Beforehand: It’s a good idea to try on outfits together before the session to see how they look as a group and make any necessary adjustments.
9. Plan Ahead: If you like co-ordinate with me to ensure your outfits will work well with the background and lighting planned for your session.
